My new job and the Givaway!

Ok so I have been at my new job for a week. Its going awesome. In one week I have made $120 in tips alone, I thought that was pretty good. I alo have already obtained regular customers (YAY)!! However on the downside I really butchered my finger good this week, just part of being a hair stylist LOL. Anyhow I am really loving my job. I am blessed to have it.

My daughter has her CRCT testing coming up in April. She is in first grade and it is mandatory for her to pass the Math section and reading section for her to be promoted to the 2nd grade. Reading she has mastered, she reads on a 3rd grade level. Math she does really well in except mastering the concept of money, i've tried everything I know to do to teach her but she hasn't really got the hang of it. If anyone has any advice on a way of teaching her this please let me know, I will try anything!!

WOW! Snow again!!

Well here in Dalton Georgia where it never snows got snow once again today. Had the weather been just right we probably would have had a pretty good snow, but our ground was mushy and wet from rain so it layed for a little while then melted, not before i got a picture however.

This was at the begining of the snow, we got a little more before it melted. Got my car out of the shop yesterday drove it and in started to run hot twice (NICE)!!! Found out today it needs a fan motor and a thermostat. Hubby is supposed to get it all fixed for me tomorrow while I am on my very first day of my new job. Keep me in thoughts and prayers, I am so nervous!!!

I am no longer umemployed, I am so happy. School and job searching finally payed off! I am now a very happy employee of..............

I took my practical for her today and she said my cuts looked great! No one even knows half of my joy. I also get to go get my car on Monday, and actually get to drive it. Its been a really good week for me and things are starting to look up for us for once! I've had faith and trust in god that something was gonna change and it finally did!! Stay tuned, i've got a giveaway coming very soon!!!

My interview went great. I have to go back tomorrow and take a girl and boy with me to do a hair cut on each for her to show that I can actually cut hair, but then the job is mine! I haven't worked in over a year and this is such a blessing. We really needed it! I am hoping that here soon I will be hosting another gift card giveaway. I can do it to walmart again, but if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!!

All Good News Today!

Well my day was filled with lots of good news. First Frec (our mechanic) called today finally with a total price. We were thinking it would be about $600, we were so wrong, I was relieved when the price of $470 came out fo his mouth. We have alot of bills due out the next weeks, but we'll make something work somehow!!

Then she hands me her progress report from school, she is doing perfect. she is really smart, they wanted to test her for Alpha which would be really good for her, but I turned that down because I feel like when she really knows what its about she'll be able to make the decision on her own. I don't want her to feel pressured and at that age different, good or bad, is still different!

So what was next in my day filled with good news. My dad called me and told me he would give me the $100 I need to tag and isure my car if we could get it out of the shop. This was extremly nice if my dad. We have never had a great relationship due to life choices he made, but I still love him reguardless and he has always been there for me financially no matter what even though thats not what I wanted but hey didn't I say this was a good news post!!!!!

All in all I have had a wonderful day. I am so thankful for my husband, my kids and my family. They are what keeps me going.

Oh and one more thing, I have an interview tomorrow at Great Clips for a position, pray that goes well, I need the job!!!

So Frec (our mechanic) called today. It was the computer that my car needed luckly he found one for $125 already got it and had it put on. I was very thankful for that. There were a few more things he thought were very important to do, so my husband told him to go ahead. I am so thankful my car is good, can't wait to get it back and actually be able to drive it. I miss it sitting in the driveway.

So as everyone knows Mia's birthday was Saturday. She got a total of $50 for her birthday so sunday I took her to spend it! First we went to the mall and went to Claires, she bought a braclet for $2.99 and some earrings for $8.50 her total was $12 and some change. I called my husband to let him know we were gonna go to wal-mart on the way home to see if she could find anything else she might want and this was her reaction.

Me: Babe i'm gonna taker her to wal-mart then we are gonna head home.

Mia: Mom tell daddy we might just need to come straight home, i've already spent to much money!

Me: Its not so much fun spending money when its your own is it?

Mia: No

Everytime she wanted something she always turned and looked at me and said mommy is this gonna take all my money? She cracks me up.

We are still having snow flurries. but nothing is really sticking anymore. I wish it would and my husband could stay home for a day or two!!!!

Ok so on to another subject. Man I need some serious good vibes sent my way. I've got a situation I haven't really talked to anyone about other than my hubby of course. I just need to seriously vent. My husbands brother moved in with us about a month ago. I have NO prblem at all helping someone out when they need it, NONE at all. He has 3 children that he gets every other weekend and few nights this week since they are out of school for the week. Well his children are seriously rude and mean. His oldest is rude and a smart butt to my daughter when he thinks no one is looking he trys to get her into trouble by saying things. He talks down to her badly. I am a very nice person and try to give every situation the benefit of the doubt, but its getting hard for me to keep my mouth closed.

His youngest bullies my son badly. He pushes him down and takes his toys and my son just gets up and goes on. The sadest part of it is that their father is sitting in the room watching it all and never says a word to them. I told my husband tonight, I have held my tounge as long as I can, but this is our house and our childrens things and they are not gonna be mistreated in any way they are my first priority and I have to make sure they are protected. He agreed and is gonna tell him things are run our way with his kids having the same rules as ours or he'll have to keep them somewhere else.

I know everyone has the right to raise their children how they see fit, but when you are living with someone else you should have more respect than that especially when you are living there for FREE. He has paid for nothing. This past week he gave me $15 towards groceries. I had my 2 my 3 stepdaughters and his three to feed. I spent $300 in groceries last week and he gives me $15 for things for his kids what does he think I was gonna buy for that.

I know I am being a little bitty but hey I have had my feel. He works and I feel like he could contribute something and make his kids behave and be more respectful in MY house!!

Snow in Dalton Georgia!!! WOW

Wow we have gotten so snow again. We have gotten more snoe in the past month or two than we have had since "the great blizzaed of 1993" where we got 2 feet of snow. I know most northern people are thinking, "what are they so frantic about thats not alot." However, here in Dalton Ga snow is almost unheard of. Up until this most recent snow the last real snow we had was in 1993, 17 years ago. Right now here at my house we have about 3-4 inches laying on the ground. Its so pretty. I took pictures but I can't get them to upload. I went to the grocery store last night, just cause it was time for me to go, and I could not find any milk or bread. So I asked myself "why does everyone always buy milk, eggs and bread?" I can understand the bread, but if my power goes out I don't want anything i'm gonna have to worry about going bad. I want things like peanut butter, ravioli, soup, etc..... Doesn't it make more sense to have things you don't ave to worry about when your power goes out.

The people here in Dalton are so not used to snow that anytime the news says we MIGHT have snow flurries everyone runs out and gets what? milk, eggs, and bread. I have enjoyed having it, but now I am ready for spring. Its to cold for my blood.

So today my hubby and I took my poor car to a mechanic in Cleveland, TN. I have my fingers crossed and I am hoping and praying nothing major is wrong with it. I've had it for like 2 weeks and haven't even got to drive ehr yet, that sucks. I feel like a teenager with no permit to drive, I go outside everyday and start her to keep her battery strong. I sit in the car for about 15 minutes cleaning or listening to the radio, then I turn her off get out and come back in. I am so anxious to drive this car, it is driving me crazy not to mention it will be so much cheaper on gas than the gas guzzling Explorer we have right now.

Its been SSSOOOO cold here the past few days, but today especially. I can walk outside and it feels like the wind is cutting right through my ears. I can't til spring gets here. I love the spring and fall weather.

My baby girl Mia will be turning 7 years old on Saturday. I can't believe the time has just flown by. I fell like we are losing time because it is going by so fast. I've been on the verge of tears over it for days. She wanted to go bowling for her birthday with her sisters, so Saturday we wil be taking all 5 of our children bowling (god help me).

Here is what my husband did with his airbrush kit for practice???

Mia could not wait to get it washed off, however, Braden wanted to leave it on, he wanted his tattoos forever he said. My husband did learn that the airbrush set was crappy and hated that he wasted his money on it.

Ok so my not so new but new to me car had a problem. We were told by a very trustworthy shop that it needed a new throtle body, called and found one for $100, labor was free since my husband did it. Well working on it for 4 hours yesterday replacing the part, I was so excited that my car was gonna be fixed and i was gonna get to drive it. YES finally.... WRONG!! The throtle body didn't fix the car so today I call our VW dealer, talk to the shop and find out what the worse case would be he says the ECM. I'm thinking ok that doesn't sound to bad so I ask the guy what and where the ECM was, he says it plugs into the throtle body and it was the brain, computer for the whole car, now i'm thinking oh great. So I tell my husband he wants me to call back talk to the parts department and find out how much that part will cost so I did just that. He tells me to hang on after getting all the information he needed, he comes back after a few minutes and says "ma'am are you sitting down?" I know then that I don't want to know how much it is I really don't. So I ask him what the damage is he says "$1,231!" Excuse me sir I think my phone is cutting out, how much did you say? He repeat the price I thought I was gonna choke on my drink.

He was very nice and suggested we take it to a very good man he knows to have it looked at first before we are set on it being the ECM. We gotta take it on monday. I SOOOO hope this isn't the problem....

Another subject (on a happier note)

My husband loves to customize hotwheels, so we got him an airbrush kit. He of course wanted to play with it and try it out before using it on the cars, so what does he do with it....???

Ok so finally after 2 weeks of waiting, my husband brings my not so new, but new to me car home. I have been so excited about it and he knew how bad i've been wanting one. So I took some pictures its dark out side and the pictures aren't of the best quaility since I couldn't see the sreen until the picture was taken. I'll get better pictures once I get her cleaned up and when its daylight outside. So here she is...

When I got home the car was covered with snow and a message written on the windshield that said I love you. I thought that was very swwet of my husband! This after our telephone conversation that went like this:

HIM: Got your car at home in the driveway baby. I am happy for you, you deserve it.

ME: I am so excited, I can't wait to get hime and see it.

HIM: I think you'll look kinda sexy driving a little beetle.

Me: Kinda what do you mean kinda?

HIM: I didn't mean it like that.

ME: You better think I'd look kinda sexy driving a pinto.

He's a great husband though, most of the time I couldn't ask for better LOL.

I have finally got my computer back and am so happy about it. The weather outside is so cold. Here around my house we have about 1 1/2 inches of snow and the roads are horrible. "Please god let the roads look good tomorrow, i'm supposed to go get my car, thank you." My husband found me a cute little 99 VW Beetle and I am so excited about it and the it sleets and snows ARGHH glad we don't have this often.

Boring Day

Today has been really boring. I knw it would go by fast since its my husbands only day off. I gave the whole family haircuts. Made all my children look older, why did I do that. Atleast they aren't shaggy anymore. I have washed clothes today to the point I wonder why sometimes we don't belong to a nudest colony, not that I would ever walk around with no clothes on, are you kidding me?!?!

I want to host a giveaway on my own, but not sure of what I can do,maybe a gift card or something, anyone have any ideas PLEASE let me know. Christmas and the New Year!

Well Christmas is over and we made it through. It was a tough one for us. We have never been so strpped for money that we couldn't even give our children a good Christmas. Although we do try to teach our children what Christmas is really about, I know its disapointing to wake up and have NOTHING to open. We got them a new TV and Wii that they got like 4 days before Christmas. We went and bought them PJs to open from Santa. Those alone were $77, come on $77 for PJs, really?? I'm glad we were able to make it through with no shown disappointment.

The New year is coming and everyone is talking about what they hope to do in the new year, lose weight, make more money, diet, exercise more...ETC Well I used to do this, but never followed through with it as it just slips my mind. However this year I am saying one way or another I WILL HAVE A JOB. I've been looking for months and have had no success and I am so tired of everything falling on my husbands shoulders. He knows I am trying, but I know its very stressful on him and I don't want his to have to do it alone!! So everyone pray in hopes that a job comes my way.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I will post a picture of the kids as soon as they saw their big present as soon as I can. I do not have my computer right now, also new posts may be delayed until AI get it back in a week or 2.

Santa Came Early!!!

Santa visited out house last night.....

We only have my step-daughters til Christmas Eve (the day they usually get their gifts)! We only got them one big family hift this year because money is so tight and wanted them to have a chance to enjoy it before going hime to their mom so Santa came last night!!! They were SO HAPPY as you can see!!

What was the gift you ask???? Well after lots of long hard and thinking my husband came up with what I thought was the perfect gift forour bunch and something we knoew they would all enjoy!!!!

Thats right a Wii, we aren't big on gaming systems, but the Wii is all interactive. I like the fact that they get a workout while playing it, not to mention I can use the work out also!!! But...... Thats not all they had something to go with it, which with my BAD eyes is my favorite part................ Drum roll please

42 inches YAY no more squinting i'm so happy!!!! Wish we would have had the money to buy these things out right, but since we didn't we went with the next best thing, we leased it (rent to own) from Aarons, not a bad price either!

Took some pictures of Braden and my hubby, Marty, playing with cars the other night, its an interest they both share and enjoy!! I'm glad they get chances to just play together!!

Look over my carpet, we are gonna replace it with hardwood when the kids get out of the i gotta spill everything stage... Even things that are supposed to stay in the kitchen get spilled in the living room, how does that happen???

Oh and in case anyone was waiting around on an update to my mouse situation, we caught him. Put the traps down and within 5 minutes......SNAP Glad I don't have to worry about that little booger getting me anymore!!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and safe New years!

Day 3 of the mouse deliemia and Mia's selflessness!

So, I came face to face with the invader last night, and I was terrified!! I was standing in front of our chaise lounge and saw it run from the loveseat to behind the chaise, I couldn't even move. So I stood there wondering where it was gonna do and saw it peak from behind the chaise lounge in a scared panic I moved my feet and it went back behind it, as soon as I thought about moving it peaked out again so again I moved my feet and it hid, last time I think about moving and it peaks again, this time I ran through the hall screaming for my husband!!! Bang bang on the bathroom "Honey I saw it, it looked at me," I could hear him laughing at me "Baby really it was staring at me." So no we still haven't caught this darn thing!!

Fast forward to bed, my husband was waiting on em to lay down and cuddle with him, but I have to perpare myself tucking the cover all under me so nothing can get in) I finally lay down and my husband asked "are you tucking the cover under you" "of course" was my reply, laughing again..Arggg!! Can'y help that I am a chicken!!! I feel like tonight is the lucky night to catch our invader!!

Oh a better note, this past month Christmas has been a very popular topic in my house! We have decided since we have 5 kids to buy one big family gift because money it tight. Mia decided she wanted to giveaway all of her toys to kids that wouldn't be able to get visits from santa, I thought this was very sweet of her. She has taken every penny she has gotten and saved and spent it on her siblings and close cousins for christmas, I thought this was very sweet of a 6 year old to give everything of her own to others. I am so very proud of her to be so selfless and compassionate and giving! I just wanted to share this. Here is a picture of my angel!!!

Well we attempted to catch our little pest last night, however, we failed. I forgot to get traps yesterday. My husband, the clever man that he is, says "I bet I can catch that thing tonight with no trap" obviously this is very close to being impossible. So he starts searching the house for items to go with his idea and i'm just watching him in a daze because I can't believe he is actually gonna try....

After several trips through the house, he has everything he needs to get started.... Ok so I watch in amazement as he beings putting coloring pages over the top opening of a deep pot, are you as lost as I was? He continues as he puts cheese on top of the papers, opened the cabinet and moved it right over to it. So I ask him "Baby, whats that gonna do?" He replies with a little roll of the eyes and "when it gets the cheese i'll fall through the papers and will not be able to get back out." Hmmmm ok "so honey who is gonna get rid of it i'm not going anywhere near it" he replies with a "i will chicken."

So what seemed crazy turned out to be a good attempt, but a failed one. Up this morning and no mouse. Why do they always disappear when you have plans to catch them?? Argggghh So tonight its traps EVERYWHERE cause I want this thing gone!

Oh Those Nasty Varmits!!!!

I was washing dishes and thought I had seen something out of the corner of my eye so I turned and nothing I was like oh, guess I should get more sleep so I continued to wash dishes..... A few more dishes in and again something in the corner of my eye I turned and nothing. By this time I'm thinking boy I am very paranoid today. So on with the dishes then I turned right in time to catch it running under my stove........................

A MOUSE!! This after talking two days before that I hadn't seen any yet! I look to my hubby and say we have a mouse we've got to get traps, he says "OK" never even looking at me cause he knows what a chicken I am. In the middl of me saying "Baby are you not gonna pay me any attention" There the little varmit went again so being the chicken I am I screamed and jumped on the couch wish soap suds still covering my hands. Marty (my husband) gets up and grabs his boot and hides to wait on it to come out again. Really? A boot, what are you gonna do with that. Well needless to say it never came back out.........

Until this morning I woke Mia up for school and was standing in the living room and there it went from the couch to the loveseat. I am to tired at this point to run or scream, so I tell Mia to get dressed and went on to brush my teeth and Mia hollars mommy the mouse is in the hall I look out and its not there, probably in another bedroom so I hurry them all up to get out of the house. I know we are gonna have them, we have chickens across the street and a huge field behind us, but come on do I really have to see it! Its like it has to make sure I know its there, trust me I know I didn't sleep at all last night for fear it would climb into my bed. Sad I know, but I don't like these little varmits!!

Today my cousin, my daughter, and myslef are traveling just south of downtown to take some well needed items to the needy. My cousin crocheted some tobagins and scarves for them all and my daughter and I went to the store this morning and bought lots of food for them.

I think this time of year especially alot of us have alot more to be thankful for that we take for granted. I could not imagine being out in this cold weather 24 hours a day with no real way of warming up and not ever knowing when I was gonna eat, take a shower, brush my teeth etc..

Lets keep all the less fortunate people in your thoughts and prayers!

I am new to the blogging scene. I figured since I am a stay at home mom (i go to school part time) with to much time on my hands it would give me something to do, is there a such thing as to much time on your hands especially with kids lol.
